Explore Boppard

Boppard is one of the most popular cities of the Rhine Valley and is located at the biggest horseshoe bend of Europe’s most frequented river. Due to its location and charme, Boppard is often referred as the “Pearl on the Rhine”.

The city is characterized by a rich history that is clearly visible today. One can see, for example, a Romanesque and Gothic church, beautiful timber-framed houses, old monasteries, noble homes and town houses, remains of the medieval city walls and the “Kurtrierische” fort that houses the museum of the city with its remarkable collection of Thonet furniture. Particular attention should be paid to the during the 4th century built Roman castle. It is the best preserved Roman fortification in Germany.

Boppard offers many possibilities for varied leisure activities: E.g. cruises, chairlift (with views of the city and the Rhine Valley), the adventurous “Hunsrückbahn” that crosses one of the steepest railway in Germany and over 200 km of hiking trails. During a walk along the wine trail, you can also get to know the different varieties of “Boppard Hamm“ (vineyards of Boppard).
